LYNE MARSHALL Curriculum Vitae 2008
Lyne Marshall was born in 1948 and spent her childhood on Bribie Island in Queensland.
She completed a Visual Arts Degree in 1994 and a Graduate Diploma in Further Education
in 2002 at the University of Southern Queensland, Toowoomba. Her background as a
Registered Nurse influenced her artistic output for over a 10 year period, however her
obsession with nature, its colour and design, strengths and fragility, now see her focus on
abstracting the landscape through the medium of acrylic paint.Although elements of nature invade these paintings, especially skies, these are far from
realistic works, but rather imaginary landscapes with many perspectives that attempt to
explore the design and beauty intrinsic in nature. They aim to encourage both exploration
and contemplation.Having produced over 16 solo exhibitions and exhibited in Australia, Japan, China and USA,
in 2007 Lyne won both the Stockland Art Award, the AMRO Morgan’s Flying Arts Regional
Award, and published her book Gleaner or Gladiator; the struggle to create, a narrative on her
creative journey, illustrated with her own paintings and photographs to authencitate her research.
Her painting Terrabo-Changing Earth has recently been acquired for the Ipswich Art Gallery
collection.
