September 2009
My recent journey to San Francisco, then on to
Alaska via the Alaskan Marine Ferry, with Atlin as the
icing on the cake, was amazing. I caught up with old
friend Gernot who I met in Australia in 2000. Fully
inspired I am now back to writing my new book on the
mystery and language of art which will be published
[ hopefully] early 2010. I have received a grant from
RADF to assist with writing this book and formulating
new workshops. My next workshop by the way is sponsored by the
Ipswich Art Gallery in conjunction with my coming
exhibition Underlying Reality. It is 3 hrs on the 26th
September commencing 10am. See workshops page.
I hope you can visit the Underlying Reality exhibition
at the IAG, which is a half hour drive West of Brisbane.
See gallery page.Back to Atlin; the village is an historic old goldmining town
with a population now of about 400 and it has amazing architecture and stunning views. We even tried our hand
at gold panning and were visited by a bear while during so. Which was the most exciting ?. The bear of course.!!!
Images below : View from the cabin on Monach Mountain
in Atlin B.C and a photo of the foreshore at the village.
The boat is a cherished relic of the bustling gold fever
days.
